Join CFA Society Finland and CFA Institute for an interesting panel discussion on the coming EU sustainable regulation and the likely effects it will have on the markets and regulatory field.

Panel discussion will look into both the regulatory approach on ESG disclosure and corporate governance, as well as perspectives of asset owners and asset managers. Topics cover regulatory expectations and impact of new regulations on sustainable finance particularly, SFDR, Taxonomy, the Comission proposal on CSRD.

Sirpa Pietikäinen_HS Sami Kero.jpg

Sirpa Pietikäinen is a member of the European People's Party (EPP) in the European Parliament. She is a former Minister of the Environment in Finland (1991-1995), and a Member of the parliament from 1983 to 2003 and Member of the European Parliament since 2008. At the European Parliament, Ms Pietikäinen is a member of the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee and Women’s Right and Gender Equality Committee, and a substitute member of the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee. Within her work, she seeks to combine her two specialties, that of environment and economics. Ms Pietikäinen is a strong advocate of a transition to a circular economy and sustainable finance, and served as the lead negotiator on behalf of European Parliament and the EPP group on the first Sustainable Finances legislative initiatives, Disclosure and Taxonomy Regulations as well as on the Parliament's Own Initiative Report on Sustainable Finance. A graduate from the Helsinki School of Economics, Ms. Pietikäinen holds MSc in Business, and teaches university courses on negotiations theory and practices. She is active in several organisations, her positions of trust including Chairmanship of the Globe EU.

Josina Kamerling is head, regulatory outreach, for CFA Institute for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region and is based in the Brussels office. She is responsible for supporting CFA Institute's EMEA policy development, advancing the impact of advocacy efforts, and promoting capital market integrity and investor protection issues. Prior to joining CFA Institute, Ms. Kamerling was a specialist adviser on financial services in the European Parliament for six years, advising most significantly the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee and the Special Committee on the Financial, Economic and Social Crisis on all aspects of financial services policy issues and technical information. Prior to this, Ms Kamerling was a banker for 15 years in a variety of functions and locations, most notably as a senior banker in the global clients division of ING.

Vesa Syrjäläinen has worked as a responsible investment analyst at Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company since 2017, where he develops responsible investments across all asset classes. Before Varma he worked as an analyst at Gasum. Vesa holds an MSc in Finance from the University of Vaasa, and he is a CFA Charterholder.

 

Outi Helenius is leading the development of Evli Group’s responsibility program and operations, and is in charge for Fund Management's responsible investing. She is also Board Member at Evli Fund Management Company. Before joining Evli in 2015, Outi has been working at KONE’s Investor Relations and SEB’s Equity Research team. Outi holds a master degree in economics from University of Helsinki, and is also an EFFAS’ Certified ESG Analyst. During 2017, she completed Diploma in Responsible Business and Environmental Management at Aalto University.

Jesse Collin is a Head of Legal and Regulatory Affairs of the Finnish Foundation for Share Promotion (Suomen Pörssisäätiö). He participates actively in national and European legislative initiatives and proactively promotes better functioning capital markets. Has a background in corporate governance and regulation of the capital markets. Prior to joining the Finnish Foundation for Share Promotion Jesse has worked for the financial markets department of the Ministry of Finance. He also has experience from a major law firm where he worked on capital markets transactions and corporate governance related matters. In addition, he holds a Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Helsinki.
