Keynote speaker Salman Ahmed, Global Head of Macro and SAA at Fidelity International, will deliver the keynote speech on global macroeconomics. After Salman, we will have a panel discussion on the European economy with our local experts. Valtteri Ahti, Chief Strategist, Evli, and Juha Kilponen, Head of Monetary Policy and Research Department, Bank of Finland.

CFA Society Finland previous president, Antti Raappana, CFA, Chief Portfolio Manager at Danske Bank Asset Management, will be the panel moderator.

Salman Ahmed, PhD, joined Fidelity in August 2020 as global head of Macro and Strategic Allocation. Previously, he was co-chair of Global Investment Committee and Chief Investment Strategist at Lombard Odier IM (LOIM). Before spending nearly 8 years with LOIM, Salman was head of Global Macro at Edf trading between 2009 and 2012. He also spent nearly 5 years with Goldman Sachs International as a global economist within the global macro team. Salman holds a PhD and MPhil in Economics & Finance from University of Cambridge. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Lahore University of Management Sciences, Pakistan, in 1999.

 

Valtteri Ahti, PhD, rejoined Evli in August 2021. Previously he worked as Head of macro, fixed income and currencies research at Danske Bank Finland and as Chief Economist at Evli. Valtteri has a strong background in global economy and is highly respected as a strategist. He is frequently quoted in the media and holds postgraduate economics studies from the universities of Cambridge, Yale and Helsinki.




 

Juha Kilponen is Head of Monetary Policy and Research Department, and a member of the European System of Central Banks’ Monetary Committee. During years 2014-2018, he was Head of Forecasting at the Bank of Finland. He has also been working as Research Advisor and Economist at the Bank of Finland, Senior Economic Advisor at the European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF) and as an Expert in the European Central Bank. Juha has published research on monetary policy, fiscal policy and labour markets in different international journals including the International Journal of Central Banking and the Journal of Money Credit and Banking. He holds a Doctorate in economics from the European University Institute, Florence from 1999.
