CFA Society Finland held a virtual Candidate Event

It is customary for CFA Society Finland to organize candidate events before CFA exam season. The CFA Charter requires a long and demanding study path, and is definitely beneficial to share thoughts, ideas and advice. Due to the uncertain times we are experiencing CFA Society Finland wanted to invite candidates to join a virtual event for some networking and information exchange. We truly hope that the December exams will be organized in Finland without last minute changes.

A group of candidates from all levels joined this early evening zoom event. Board members Tiina Smolander, CFA, Antti Raappana, CFA, Dan Anttila, CFA and Hanna Savinainen, CFA shared experiences from their respective CFA journeys and gave helpful tips into studying and overall preparing for the exams as well as experiencing the actual test situation. Some tips included leaving enough time for last-minute revision, planning the study schedule carefully, using little extra bits in the day to catch up on studying, but also leaving enough time for relaxation. The board also elaborated on the CFA Institute and Society membership and how much value the network of finance professionals and participating in the different CFA events brings.

The candidate experience is going through big changes next year as CFA Institute transfers all the three levels of tests to Computer Based Testing (CBT). Some advantages to CBT are the flexibility in organizing the test in increased number of exam administrations for every level, providing multi-day exam windows and a broader footprint of test areas.

We really hope that our next candidate event can be an in-person get-together, as it is hugely important for us as a society to arrange organic connections and discussions among our peers. We want to thank everyone joining this event and wish all the best of luck to the coming exams!
