Get to know the CFA Institute’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Code better, via a great new introductory video on CFA Society New York’s platform here.

Diversity issues are featured more and more in company strategies. CFA Institute sees that Diversity, equity, and inclusion are crucial elements in the future of the investment industry and the success of investment firms, and that a diversity of perspectives will lead to better investor outcomes. These principles will help better serve the diverse society, as well as make one’s company a better place to work.

CFA Institute is leading the industry in developing a voluntary code to guide DEI, beginning in the United States and Canada.

The Code outlines six key Principles within the following categories:

  • Pipeline

  • Talent Acquisition

  • Promotion and Retention

  • Leadership

  • Influence

  • Measurement

CFA Institute has sought feedback on the principles by 4 September 2021. To make sure that the DEI principles would lead to lasting changes in the finance industry, The DEI Code Working Group believes that the progress requires the commitment of senior leaders at investment organizations who would have to both lead by example and hold their organizations accountable. Adoption of the DEI Code will be metrics-based and signatories will be required to commit to reporting on the metrics that are relevant to their organizations.
