CFA Society Finland’s "Forest Investments as a Financial Asset Class" event gathered members and candidates on 23.3.2023

CFA Society Finland was pleased to organize event “Forest Investments as a Financial Asset Class” on 23rd March at Lapland Hotels Bulevardi. With some 35 attendees at the event, this topic raised a lot of interest from our membership. We were able to welcome also some candidates to join our event.
 
This March breakfast event included an introduction to the current market dynamics by Lauri Tenhunen, CFA. The panel discussion by Juha Hakkarainen, Managing Director, Finsilva, Otto Heiskanen, Chief Operating Officer, Conifer Consulting, Kari Kangas, Fund Manager, UB Timberland Fund and Esa-Jussi Viitala, Senior Researcher, Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) touched upon topics such as specific perspectives on the Finnish forestry market and ownership, as well as discussion on carbon sinks and using forest land for wind/solar power generation. Our board president Toni Iivonen, CFA, CAIA performed as the moderator of the panel discussion.
