We got many useful tips and ideas in the Webinar Presentation Skills Workshop
CFA Society Finland held its first ever “Webinar Presentation Skills Workshop” on November 6th. We had a great group of enthusiastic participants ready to take in all that is involved in making a good Teams or Zoom meeting or webinar.
This era has made technical knowledge and remote networking a must. As we learnt from our workshop you can make a real difference in doing the right preparations and having the right tools at your disposal. And as physical meeting and events are bound to come back sooner or later, some forms of remote communication are here to stay.
Things found to be challenging in remote meetings are technical difficulties, the lack of interactive communication, difficulty to get your message through and how to keep the audience interested and concentrated in situations where physical presence is not possible. Also important is to make the difference between bigger webinars and smaller meetings and working groups where your tools and ways to engage might be very different.
Our workshop trainer was Selene Marckwort from Marckwort Koulutusyhtiöt. Selene has extensive experience in communication skills education and has already been training people for 10 years in how to master online events. Selene went over some of the hurdles in webinars, how to utilize helpful platforms and applications in your meeting, what to concentrate and put emphasis on when preparing for an online event and the length and pacing of remote meetings. Many little things make a big difference and workshops like these are really useful in teaching us to make informed decisions when building an interesting and interactive webinar.
Remote meetings will never replace the physical gatherings but we are happy to learn new things, and thankfully technology is developing fast and making things easier for us in the long run. We want to give a big thank you to Selene in giving us guidance in the webinar jungle we are living in right now.
CFA Society Finland members, let us know if you are interested in soft-skill webinars like this in the future as well!
