Passed event: Ethical Decision-Making workshop, 29.11.2022

University students

date & time

29/11/2022 4 pm EET @zoom

CFA Society Finland is happy to invite Affiliate University students to attend a virtual Ethical Decision-Making Workshop on Tuesday 29th November 2022 at 4 pm EET.

Ethical dilemmas are a form of ambiguity, readily generated by the competing priorities in the finance and investment world. It is a common misconception that unethical action is an uncommon occurrence, performed by already bad people. On the contrary, ethical dilemmas are entirely commonplace occurrences, and often result in perfectly good people deciding to do questionable things - driven by psychological biases, social & organizational factors, and situational influences that can affect decision-making and behavior.

With this case-based Ethical Decision-Making workshop we broadly have the following goals for the students:

  1. To be conscious of ethical biases

  2. To have knowledge of ethical principles

  3. To be able to recognize ethical dilemmas

  4. To know how to take appropriate action.

These interactive workshops examine real-life dilemmas that investment industry professionals may face in their careers, and that may not have a clear right or wrong response. Participants consider potential courses of action to address the issues involved and vote on one they believe is best, which sparks lively discussions and reveals unique perspectives. Participants will also learn about the CFA Institute Ethical Decision-Making Framework and how they can use it to analyze a situation or dilemma.

The workshop will be delivered by CFA Society Finland in collaboration with CFA Institute.
