CFA Society Finland is pleased to invite its members to an October networking event with a topical private credit theme on October 25th.
We are happy to welcome Mikko Iso-Kulmala, Head of Private Credit Solutions, Fidelity International as a speaker for the evening. After the keynote we will have time for questions and discussion as well as afterwards enjoy some drinks and food.
After a year and a half of rate hikes, the private credit market remains in solid shape. The floating rate nature of the market means absolute returns have strengthened with every rate rise from central banks, and a greater share of corporate cashflows are now flowing to lenders. But what will the future look like for this asset class? Will this be a private credit "golden moment" as some of the largest players in the market have recently described? What are the risks the investors need to be mindful of in order to appropriately position private credit in their portfolios? In his presentation Mikko will discuss the private credit market dynamics as well as how investors can position themselves to appropriately take advantage of market opportunities whilst managing underlying risks.
Mikko heads Private Credit Solutions at Fidelity International after having joined the firm in Feb 2022. Prior to joining Fidelity International, Mikko worked at Barings (formerly known as Babson Capital) from early 2013 onwards, most recently looking after all investment business management aspects across a number of different fixed income teams. Prior to this, Mikko acted as a Client Portfolio Manager at Barings across asset classes including loans, CLOs, high yield bonds, as well as distressed/special situations credit.
Prior to Barings, Mikko worked at J.P. Morgan Asset Management as a Client Portfolio Manager within the Global Multi-Asset Group, primarily focusing on convertible bonds, systematic alpha/hedge fund beta strategies, as well as a number of Income-focused strategies. Mikko started his career in early 2007 at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, with initial focus on working with the portfolio managers primarily on the Legal side in negotiating ISDAs/CSAs and various other aspects in helping to facilitate most efficient execution of various investment strategies. Whilst at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, Mikko also passed the New York Bar Exam.
