Ethical Decision-Making Workshop was held with CFA Institute

Ethical standards in the investment profession is a key element in the mission for CFA Institute as well as our Society. We feel that there is never too many chances to practice ethics in simulated real-life situations. Therefore, we at CFA Society Finland were really pleased to arrange a virtual Ethical Decision-Making Workshop for Affiliate University students here in Finland, together with CFA Institute. Our affiliate Universities in Finland are Aalto and Vaasa Universities, from where we had some students participating.

Our board member Joonas Huttunen, CFA, lauched the event and introduced our Society to the participants. As speakers of the event we were happy to welcome Brad Jealous, J.D., Director & Sr. Investigator and Julia McDonough, J.D., Director & Sr. Investigator from CFA Institute’s Professional Conduct and Enforcement team. The workshop covered the elements of ethical decision-making and processes you can use in your professional life to be more ethical-oriented. The workshop also contained many case studies, where participants were able to choose the best alternative action for each specific scenario. The CFA Institute Ethical Decision-Making Framework was also covered, which is a great source to go back to in order to internalize the different phases in the decision-making when facing real-life situations.

Thank you also to Sammya ZamZam, CFA Institute, for helping to organize the event.

If you would like to have more education in ethics, check out the CFA Institute Ethics Learning Lab.
