New report released: "Financing the transition is not only about investing in green"
In late 2022, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) released a consultation paper on guidelines for fund naming using ESG or sustainability-related terms. As members of the CFA EMEA working group on ESG investing, Hilde Veelaert and CFA Society Finland former board member Niina Arkko, CFA took a deep dive into the consultation and discussed its potential consequences.
In the long term, if we don’t change our behaviour, the shortage of raw materials, reduction in biodiversity, changing climate conditions, social unrest and inequality will further negatively impact our society, the environment and economic growth. The Just Transition to a sustainable world is about developing pathways that reduce negative impact and are supported by innovation and new products and services. These pathways take into account and minimize potential negative impact of the transition itself.
