New Research Challenge round kicked off 2 November

CFA Institute Research Challenge is here again! We are really excited to welcome a new batch of university teams to our local competition here at CFA Society Finland. Altogether seven teams from six universities from Finland and Estonia are competing this year. The participating universities are Aalto University, Jyväskylä School of Business and Economics, Lappeenranta University of Technology, Tallinn University of Technology, University of Turku and University of Vaasa with two teams.

The kick-off was organized virtually to enable everyone easy access to the event. Board chair Antti Raappana, CFA, welcomed everyone and shared information of CFA Institute, our Society and the CFA charter. It is important for us to give the students background knowledge on the organizations behind the competition and give initial spark to maybe advancing to the CFA program one day.

Next up was our Research Challenge team chair Hanna Savinainen, CFA, who gave details on the challenge, some historical information and important updates and timelines within the competition.

The subject company this year is Wärtsilä, a global leader in smart technologies and complete lifecycle solutions for the marine and energy markets. We are thrilled to have Wärtsilä joining for the season. The students will get a comprehensive presentation on the company during Wärtsilä Capital Markets Day 18 November.

Finally in the presentation, we welcomed Mikael Lehto, CFA, Manager, Customer Success Nordics from Refinitiv at London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) to give introduction to Refinitiv and the Workspace the students get to use during the competition. The registered students will get a separate training session with Refinitiv on 9 November.

We wish best of luck to all the students!
